In a World without Steve Jobs...

Flipping through ALL the newspapers of the 7th October edition, as well as several websites, this one peculiar image stands out of an almost-bald man, with his salt and pepper beard, his eyes transfixed upon the reader through his round rimless glasses. You can't help but make eye contact. Steve Paul Jobs he is, Co-Founder of Apple. THE Apple.

The man who changed the world, left the world. Yes, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple Inc. passed away. The entire world was in a state of shock, especially Silicon Valley, California, where his Apple is based. The Twitter, Facebook and BlackBerry offices were busier than ever. Deservedly so. Respect, Sir.

Okay now the reason behind this Note. Come to think of it, what if Steve Jobs, was not Steve Jobs? What if he hadn't boldly approached Mr. William Hewlett himself back in 1955 and charmed his pants off, only to ultimately earn an internship at Hewlett-Packard (HP, as its commonly known) to kickstart his career while only in High School? What if......? The world would have surely been a different place. Different how, you ask? Here's how -

  1. Apple would just be the fruit that tempted Adam and Eve and got the first couple kicked out of Eden. It would not be one of the biggest electronic brands that designs and builds stylish gadgets and gizmos.
  2. You wouldn't have to explain to your aunt that all MP3/Multimedia players are NOT i-Pods.
  3. You would be using touch-screens with a stylus. And feeling mighty sophisticated about it. Pinching and swiping at your phone would make you seem wierd to people who saw you do it.
  4. Many Taiwanese and Chinese companies would not have prefixed "i" to the name of their devices to appear cooler.
  5. Your phone or MP3 player would not be equipped with obscene amounts of memory, that till a decade ago, even your PC did not have.
  6. You would have no idea who Buzz Lightyear is. Nemo would have never been found. Monsters would never be cute. Pixar Animation Studios would never have existed.
  7. A black turtleneck paired with jeans and sneakers would not be iconic. It would still be a fashion faux pas.

These are just a few possibilities in a world sans Steve Jobs. Freaky!
